This is my 13 year old, Daniel. Yes he is the typical smart mouth, knows everything, parents are uncool, NEVER wrong, NEVER his fault kind of teenager. Well he decided he was going to run away from home last night, well after he ate dinner, I guess things weren't that bad if he stayed to eat...lol I was upstairs getting KK ready for bed and when we came down, Daniel was gone... I thought he was out feeding our many animals so I was not too concerned at this point, but about 15 minutes later I asked one of the girls to check on him to see if needs help outside....Well he was not outside, so we check his room... nope not there either...hmmm.... now I am really wondering where he has gotten off to???? Hubby tells the kids to lock the doors and let him have to knock when he decides to show back up, I on the other hand go back upstairs and get dressed, I can not stand the fact that I do NOT know where he is. I go next door...nope haven't seen him! a couple of doors down....nope not there either....I go all the way to the other end of the subdivision, knock on the door, a man comes to the door, I ask if Daniel is there...he shakes his head and says yes... I just look at him at first and wait to hear what he has to say...ummm... like WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL HIS PARENTS TO LET US KNOW HE WAS THERE.....with packed bags might I add...hellloooo???? I don't think he would have liked it one bit knowing that his child was at someones house while he was out looking for them for almost 2 hours..... He was like, Daniel just wanted to vent, we were about to call you...ABOUT???? ABOUT??? to call... what?? now that I was here he was ABOUT to call??? TOO FREAKIN LATE!!!! I don't know if I was more relieved or angry!! BUT I tell you what I was ...I was now on my way, with 13year old in car, on our way to the Sheriffs Department...YEP!! I asked Daniel if he wanted to go and he replied it did not matter to him....WRONG THING TO SAY..... so we went! I found out quite a bit myself...good info too... That parents can file complaints with the courts when their child is defiant even with something as simple as not doing the dishes when asked... after 10complaints they go before the Judge and the two officers also said our new Judge does"not play around". They also told Daniel that the only rights he has are the rights his parents give him and by the looks of what he has done they did not think he should have any at this point. I sooooo appreciated these two Deputies talking to him, I mean they were not all...you better not do this again blah blah blah...they were like IF you decide to do this again this is what IS going to happen and you are lucky your mom found you before she called us, because if she would have called us first, you my son would be on your way to the Juvenile delinquent center, boot camp during the day and jail at night....is this what you want?? and when they found out he was the oldest of 5....yikes!! SON WHAT IF YOUR YOUNGER SIBLINGS TRY THIS???? they might not know to go to a friends house, what if someone was to take them??? how would you feel then?? it would be because they saw you do this....I bet whatever trouble you were in has know doubled if not tripled... and let me just say yes it has... he will be lucky to get air, food and water....lol I sure hope this scared him enough so we dont have anymore episodes....

Kathy: Life as a parent isn't easy an that is a tough age for both of you. Hang in there, you will make it through.
True...you only THINK it's hard when they are babies...then they turn into teenagers and you realize the baby phase was by far the easiest...sleep deprivation and all! :) But, there are ALOT of really good days...thank God for those! They sure know how to push our buttons...how do they learn that???
